Interesting Way to Make Extra Money this Summer

interesting-way-to-make-extra-money-this-summer

So it is the middle of summer. You go downtown with some friends on a Saturday night. You all decide to get something to eat. You step into the restaurant and see the menu. Dang, those prices look affordable! You don’t have a job, so you are way excited right now. You order your food and you are totally stoked to eat this awesome meal that is barely costing you ten dollars. But wait dude.

You reach into your pocket to pull out your wallet. You open it up and look inside and what do you find in it?

Three dollars, one nickel, and a receipt for a Slurpee and a burrito from 7-Eleven last night. It is most definitely time to get a job bro.

You go home and check out Craigslist. Sounded like a legit idea. I mean, people are always finding jobs on Craigslist, so why can’t you? Cause most jobs on there are a real commitment – 401-K, yearly salary, need at the very minimum an AA degree to get jobs. What’s next?

You hit the mall. Apply at Hollister dude, they are ALWAYS hiring. But wait, they won’t start you for another month and you’re leaving in five and a half weeks.

Hmmm, try all the other stores. Oh, and try every store in every shopping center within five miles of your house. I guess they all told you the same thing. They are NOT going to hire you for five weeks of work.

This totally blows. What are you gonna do?

Don’t worry baby bird, I’ll feed you.

Detail cars!. You can get all the supplies you need for less than twenty dollars. And do you know the going rate for a basic detailing? FORTY DOLLARS! Whoa, that’s a fine chunk of change man.

You can easily charge around twenty to thirty dollars per detailing, work at it for around 45 minutes and turn a profit after one car. That’s a sick plan!

But how are you gonna find people who will let you, just some kid home from school for the summer, apply chemicals to their expensive cars?

Don’t worry birds, I have more worms.

You got a Facebook?  Time to make some daily status updates telling people just what you are offering.

You got a phone?  Time to send out some text messages and make some phone calls to people you know with cars.

You have vocal cords?  Use them to ask people you know around the neighborhood if they are interested in having their car shine like a Lil Wayne diamond pendant with the spotlight on it.

I know what you’re thinking. How many people can I possibly find that would let me clean their car for twenty bucks when for just ten to twenty more they can get it professionally done?

You’re right, odds are you will not be doing three or four cars a day and pulling in around one hundred a day for barely three hours of work every single day for the next five and a half weeks.

But, it is most definitely a reasonable expectation to get two, three, maybe even as many as four cars on a weekly basis. It won’t pay for your entire college tuition for the next year, but it will put enough cash into your pocket so that gas won’t be an issue, that cell phone bill won’t be coming in red envelopes anymore, and next time you’re downtown with your buds and you go to get something to eat, you won’t be regretting that unfortunate desire for a half cherry, half blue raspberry Slurpee the night before. (Try the Lemonade one next time. It’s sour at first, but it grows on you. The Coke one tastes like horse urine, don’t ask me how I know.)

So give it a shot dude. It’ll be a quick gig to turn a profit with and put enough cash in your wallet to get through the summer. Plus it will help kill a few hours in the morning in a new way. (Seriously bro, you play Xbox WAY too much) I mean, it’s either give this a shot, or sell that sick Pokemon card collection. And you DO NOT want to give up that holographic Pikachu right?
